How to Choose a Solar Company in Karachi: 10 Questions to Ask

Karachi has hundreds of solar sellers, from established engineering companies to one-person operations. A solar system is a roof-mounted, long-term investment, so the company you choose matters as much as the panels. Use these ten questions to compare solar companies in Karachi on more than just the quotation.

1. How long have you been installing solar, and can you show completed projects?

Ask for installations similar to yours: a home in DHA or Gulshan, a commercial building, or a factory. A company that has been working for years is also more likely to still be around to honour its warranty. MaxGreen Energy has completed 2,100+ projects over 9+ years, and our projects page shows the kind of work we do.

2. Will you visit my property before quoting?

A serious company inspects your roof, measures shading, checks your electrical panel and reviews your electricity bills before recommending a system size. A quotation sent over WhatsApp with no visit is a guess.

3. Which brands of panels and inverters will you use?

Ask for the exact brand and model, not just a wattage. Panels and inverters are the parts that decide how well the system performs over its life, so you should be able to look up their datasheets and warranty terms.

4. What warranties do I get, and who honours them?

Separate the manufacturer warranties (panels, inverters, batteries) from the installer's workmanship warranty. Ask how a claim works in practice and whether the company will handle it for you.

5. Can you handle K-Electric net metering?

If you want to export surplus power, the application goes through K-Electric. K-Electric requires an approved, PEC-certified installer, and the rules changed in 2026 (exports are now credited at a lower rate than the old one-to-one swap), so ask the company which rules apply to your application and who prepares and submits the paperwork. Our Karachi net metering guide explains the current process.

6. What does the quote actually include?

  • Panels, inverter, mounting structure, cables and protection devices
  • Installation and commissioning
  • Net metering paperwork, if applicable
  • Batteries, if you want backup during load-shedding
  • What is not included, for example civil work or extra roof strengthening

7. How will the structure handle Karachi's coastal weather?

Humidity and salt air corrode poor-quality metal quickly. Ask what the mounting structure is made of and how it is protected. Our guide to solar panels in Karachi explains why this matters.

8. What happens after installation?

Ask about monitoring, cleaning, inspection visits and how quickly the company responds if something stops working. Cheap installers often disappear after the final payment, which is why we recommend reading our article on why buying cheap solar costs more in the end.

9. Can I speak to past customers?

A confident company will give you references, or point to real, verifiable reviews. MaxGreen has 5.0 stars from 43 Google reviews at the time of writing.

10. Is the proposal clear about timelines and payment?

You should receive a written proposal with the scope of work, an installation timeline and a payment schedule linked to milestones, not a request for the full amount upfront.
